6 Things To Do At The Beginning Of Each Month

Alright you guys… How is it already July?! This year has gone way to fast, but I feel like I say that every year! These next 6 months are going to be even crazier than the first 6 for me, so I wanted to put a little list together (because you all know how much I love to make lists!) of things to do at the beginning of every month to make life just a teeny bit easier and organised!

1 | Review your budget & finances. I live by my budget, and the beginning of a new month is a great way to look at your bills and debts and see what needs to be paid. Also while you’re at it, set up your bills to come out automatically. This has helped me so much, and I haven’t missed a bill in years!

2 | Review your monthly calendar. This goes for your work schedule, appointments, dinner plans, parties, holidays, etc. Reviewing all this ahead of time will help you see where you have things, where you can schedule in more things, and planning for things coming up. For example, if you need someone to housesit while you go on vacation, or if you need someone to drive you to a doctor’s appointment, you can arrange these things well in advance.

3 | Make plans with family and friends, & schedule appointments. Doing this at the very start of the month gets it booked and done, rather than waiting until next month, again.

4 | Write down goals for the month ahead, or make a list of incompletes. (Again) another list, but I love to write down a couple of goals I want to achieve in the month ahead. Whether it be cleaning the car inside and out, or going to the gym 4 times a week, or starting to plan your next holiday, it can be useful to write down little to-do’s so they don’t get missed. I also like to add anything I didn’t get done last month and prioritize if it gets too much.

5 | Buy birthday cards. I love this tip I got off Pinterest. While you’re reviewing your calendar and the month ahead, you make a note of who’s birthday is coming up and then your next shopping trip you can pick them a birthday card. I hate the feeling of having to rush out the door on the way to a dinner party because you forgot their card!

6 | Updating your playlists. The turnover rate of new songs these days is so fast, so updating your playlists is a good way of refreshing it and listening to some new tunes.

7 | Cleaning out your fridge and cupboards. If you’re anything like me, you thought you brought those apples a week ago, but actually it was 4 weeks ago and now they’re mouldy. As much as I hate the act of cleaning out the fridge and cupboards, there’s something so satisfying about throwing out old and expired things! This allows you start fresh each month and don’t forget to add things to your shopping list, especially if it’s a staple!

8 | Deep clean your home. There is nothing better than starting the month off with a clean kitchen and bathroom, clean sheets and duvet covers and a vacuumed floor. It’ll put you in such a good frame of mind for the month ahead!

Let me know what you like to do to prepare for the weeks ahead!
